Trigger warning: death It is with great regret that we must share the news of the passing of one of our staff members. Blair Envy was loved by many at Revenge, both staff and customers alike. Her presence was so strong, and her absence will be felt throughout the community. Blair was only with us since May but in that time she made a huge impact on each and every one of us. Her energy can only be described as love and light – she radiated positivity and anyone that met her will have felt that. Blair was so many things to so many people, but most importantly she was deeply loved by us all. This is a very sad time for the community, both at Revenge and beyond. We know many of you will want to pay your respects to Blair, so we are in the beginning stages of planning a fundraiser and permanent memorial in her honour. In the meantime we will have a book of condolences behind the bar on Monday that is open for anyone to leave a personal message – just ask the staff. If you’d like to make a donation in Blair’s memory, please go here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdf…/CommemoratingBlairsLife We’ll be donating all funds raised to the Clare Project, a Brighton-based Transgender support group. If Blair’s passing has affected you, please reach out for support. Here at Bar & Club Revenge, we share everyone’s serious concern about the tragic increase in drink spiking across the country. We take our customers’ safety extremely seriously, and we want everybody who walks through our doors to experience a fun night out – without fear. Revenge is a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and their allies, and we’ll do everything in our power to make sure that remains the case. We wholeheartedly believe that one spiking incident is too many, so here are some of the things we do at both R-Bar and Club Revenge to keep you safe: Any drinks that are left unattended will be disposed of by a bartender or SIA security. Customers can ask for a protective drink cover to go over their glass. This will be free of charge – just ask your server when ordering. Additional training for all staff for how to look for signs of spiking, or of customers having been spiked Additional first aid training for frontline staff. Increased searches upon entry and increased security presence roaming around the venue. Posters around both venues, warning potential perpetrators about the criminal consequences should they attempt to spike any individual. We continue to work closely with licensing and Sussex Police and implement any recommendations that come through them. If you or a friend believe you have been spiked, please let a member of our team know straight away, and we will make sure you are looked after whilst we thoroughly investigate the matter. If you think your drink tastes strange, let our bar team know and we will replace it for a fresh one, free of charge. If you see anything suspicious around the venue, please alert security or a member of staff. Anybody who is suspected of spiking will be reported to Sussex Police. If you have any other ideas of what we could be doing, then please message us directly through Facebook or Instagram, or contact our Safe Space & Inclusivity Advisor directly via [email protected] with any feedback.
Due to the latest government guidelines, Bar Revenge will close its doors at 10PM on Wednesday 4th November and we will reopen on the 2nd of December or whenever the government advises us that it is safe to do so. Since we reopened on the 4th July, we’ve had such an incredible time welcoming back the incredible LGBTQ+ community of Brighton and we want to thank every single person who has come through our doors and supported Revenge through these uncertain times. We want to extend our thanks to our drag hosts, our bar staff, our security and our management team who have worked tirelessly over the last few months to ensure the safety of all of our customers. Lots of love, Team Revenge x
🚨 BAR REVENGE IS BACK OPEN 🎉 Opening Hours: Monday – Sunday (12PM – 10PM) Both the downstairs and upstairs bar will be open throughout to facilitate faster and safer service. PLUS, our 50% offer is returning, Sunday-Friday (5-8pm), excluding bottles of wine & champagne, shooters & bombs. For the time being, we’ll only be playing background music (of your favourite gay bops & queer anthems) and the Jukebox & Fruit Machines will be out of order. We’ll be looking at gradually reintroducing our events & entertainment once we’re allowed to do so. Our absolute priority is the safety of our customers and staff & we’ve been working really hard to put procedures and policies in place to ensure this. Please do not attempt to visit Bar Revenge if you are feeling unwell or showing any symptoms; we reserve the right to take customers’ temperature on entry. 🛀 The Bar will under-go a thorough deep clean before opening. 📲 Customers will be required to give us their full name and phone number as part of NHS Test and Trace. 🌡 Staff’s temperature will be taken at the beginning and end of every shift. 🧤 Staff will have access to safety equipment including gloves and face masks. ⑁ Chairs and tables will be spaced out to allow for social distancing (1 metre+) & sanitised after every use. Table service only. 💦 Sanitiser stations will be available at multiple points throughout the premises for both staff and customers. ⚠️ Capacity will be strictly controlled to avoid over-crowding. Please help us by doing your bit and adhering to government guidance; we can’t wait to welcome you back to our LGBTQ+ family and give you a socially distanced air kiss.
